““I can't recommend this gym enough for anyone in the 55-80 age range looking to stay active, healthy, and confident in their fitness journey. The owner, who is also the trainer, truly understands the needs of older adults and creates a welcoming, supportive environment where you never feel out of place. Al is outstanding.””
Personal Training for Older Adults in Clinton Township, MI

Who This Is For
Most adults who train here fall into one of three situations. If any of these sounds familiar, the free intro session is the right next step.
I have a bad knee / hip / shoulder.
Training around injuries is different from ignoring them. Every session is programmed with your specific limitations in mind: which exercises load the joint, which ones don't, and how to build strength in a way that protects rather than aggravates. Many clients come in expecting to work around a problem indefinitely and end up stronger than they were before the injury.
I've had surgery or a serious health event.
Post-surgery training, cardiac rehab support, and recovery-phase fitness require a different level of care than standard personal training. We work with clients navigating these situations and coordinate with your healthcare provider when appropriate through HTS's Complete Health Optimization program.
I haven't worked out in years, maybe decades.
The entry point is a conversation, not a fitness test. The free intro session is an assessment of where you are right now, not a judgment of where you should be. Clients who haven't set foot in a gym in 20 years are a normal Tuesday at Health Targeted Solutions.
Real People. Real Results.
Don't just take our word for it. Here's what our members have to say.
““I've been training with Al for nearly 20 years! I initially sought a trainer that could help by showing me alterations to avoid the cycle of injury/rest, injury/rest, and haven't left. He's a very knowledgeable trainer and will be there to correct form and push you to be your best!””

““As someone who is usually pressed for time, my main concern was that I would get the most out of the time spent there. With Al's deep knowledge and personal attention as a personal trainer, I could not be more satisfied. Thank you Al.””

Got Questions?

For most adults, yes, including those with common conditions like hypertension, diabetes, or osteoporosis. The risks of avoiding strength training at 60 or 70 are generally higher than the risks of doing it with proper guidance. Every client at Health Targeted Solutions is assessed individually before any program is built, and we coordinate with your doctor or specialist when your health situation calls for it.
Look for direct experience training adults in your age range, not just a certification. Ask whether the trainer has worked with your specific condition or limitation. Ask how they handle injuries and what happens when something doesn't feel right. At Health Targeted Solutions, these are questions we address in the free intro session before any program begins.
The purpose of the first session is to assess your current starting point. Adults who haven't exercised in years, or who have never had a structured fitness program, are exactly who the free intro session is designed for.
Yes, though the approach is different after 50. Hormonal changes, muscle loss, and metabolic shifts mean that cardio-heavy programs that worked at 30 often don't produce the same results at 55. Programs here focus on building and preserving lean muscle, which is the primary driver of metabolic rate, alongside appropriate nutrition guidance.
Most clients over 50 see meaningful results training 2 to 3 times per week. The right frequency depends on your current fitness level, recovery capacity, and goals, and is built into the initial program and adjusted based on how your body responds.
Health Targeted Solutions is located at 39025 Moravian Dr, Clinton Township, MI 48036. Training is by appointment, serving Clinton Township and surrounding Macomb County communities including Sterling Heights, Macomb, Shelby Township, and Mount Clemens. Call (586) 202-9752 or book the free intro session online.
The first session is a low-pressure conversation and movement assessment, not a workout. We ask about your goals, health history, any injuries or conditions, and what you've tried before. You leave with a clear picture of what a program would look like. Everything after that is your decision.
It depends on the source of the pain, but in many cases, yes. Properly programmed strength training builds the muscle that supports and stabilizes joints, which often reduces chronic pain from conditions like osteoarthritis. We identify which movements are appropriate for your situation and refer out when a medical evaluation is needed first.
